fear.

  1. Fear is something that everyone has. As humans, we are naturally going to have fear. It is an instinct that we are born with. There are certain things that are frightening to some of us, and it is very hard to stop those frights once they are planted in our imagination, and that is where fear comes in. I do think that it is healthy to fear...to an extent. If fear, however, is consuming your mind and plaguing your every thought, that is when it gets out of hand. A little fear can be good. A little fear can make you a little nervous, which can cause better performance. A little fear can also cause you to make decisions based off of the fear of possible consequences. But if fear goes as far as causing you to worry, then you know it has gone to far. If you let fear get to you to that extent, that is when you need to back away and get a new perspective. A fresh perspective can bring the worst of situations into terms that seem more manageable. Looking at the situation at hand and diagnosing the reason of your fear can bring much light to the situation. Sometimes we fear things that if we logically thought about them, we would not fear. What helps me sometimes is to make a list, almost like a pros and cons list of the thing I fear. I can think about the actual consequences of what I am fearing and think about the parts that I may be perceiving untruly. I then try to look at it from an outsider's perspective and see if it is something worthy to fear. Fear for me is good when in small doses. For example, because of fear, I run better in track meets because. But fear in larger doses seem to plague my life and cause me to accomplish less than I am capable of and live a life below par to what it should be. Do not let fear cripple you, it is not worth it.
